I see his email address whether I'm logged in or not.


That was not the case this morning, so I guess Carsten made it public since.

One issue I see with ORCID is that it is not possible to add an email address that is no longer until one's control, like the ones from my former employers/companies.  As the problem that we try to solve is exactly that, binding old email addresses to a single identifier, I do not how see that is an improvement.

Indeed. If you care about my old email addresses, my IETF datatracker profile is the best (indeed, the only) place to find them (or at least, about half of them).
