My assumption is exactly the opposte. One reason is that I find it appropriate to acknowledge the organization that funded my work. Different people have different approaches to this, but I doubt I’m unique in this respect. Another is that I’d like people to see my name in the author list instead of having to dereference an ORCID. You could turn both of those observations on their heads and point out that if we expunged direct acknowledgment of people and organizatons from our documents, it might have the salubrious effect of making political “authorship” less of a thing. But if we really want to bite off that problem, I don’t think sneaking it in through a side-effect is the right way. —John
