The GASPOF project aims to develop and validate a new generation of optical gas sensors and their integration into fiber optic networks. We offer an internationally collaborative working environment within the project and beyond. We also offer a flexible research program to the successful candidate allocating at least 50% of their time on GASPOF validation tasks (Work Package 6), while the rest of their time will be free to pursue and develop their own research agenda. *What is expected:* The successful candidate will be involved in validating the novel fiber optics sensors using commercially available instruments, both in lab and field conditions. The validation protocol should include (1) experimental design and/or (2) spatio-temporal characterization of naturally occurring volcanic degassing processes in Canary Island volcanoes. As the dissemination of knowledge and results is a key component of the GASPOF project, the candidate will also actively participate in the planned dissemination activities, including publications in peer-reviewed journals and presentations at scientific conferences. *Essential requirements:* Candidates will hold a PhD in Volcanology, Geochemistry, Geophysics, or related field with strong quantitative skills. *Desired requirements:* Interest/experience in gas measurements/monitoring (sensor validation or optical techniques will be considered a plus). *Application deadline: 23:59 UTC 30 April 2025* *Application package* (a 4 pages PDF document, including): 1.
