Please try the current Git. I made small changes to improve the debug
output and to avoid "(null)." However, I'm still not sure why you do
not see the data.

The three machines that I tried `irqtop` on all have some form
of Linux Mint 21 installed. One of the machines has several
partitions, holding other distros. Trying those, things work
fine on Fedora 40, Debian 12, Mint 18, and Manjaro.

But on Mageia 9 I can reproduce the issue: the system-provided
irqtop shows "(null)" for the first three seconds on a small
terminal. Also when chrooting from Manjaro into the Mageia
system, the latter's irqtop shows "(null)" at startup, so it's
unlikely to be a kernel issue.

(On one of these systems I had unwittingly compiled util-linux
with -fsanitize=address, and upon closing irqtop, it spewed
multiple complaints about leaked memory. I forgot to capture
the output.)

With current git (commit c52a3645aa), irqtop still shows "(null)".
Attached is the stderr output with LIBSMARTCOLS_DEBUG=all.
