Hi Frans, It depends exactly what command you are using and what you want to do. If you install the full tde-trinity then desktop-base would probably be replaced by desktop-base-trinity. However, while my laptop has most of TDE plus some Gnome apps such as GnuCash and GIMP it currently has neither desktop-base nor desktop-base-trinity and it's working fine. They seem to be optional wallpapers and themes and such like. --Mike P.S.
