We reviewed WG material in advance, attended the WG meeting, and then held post-mortems afterward. It worked well for those focused on a very limited number of WGs. It can't scale for multiple parallel sessions or handle bad time zones. I know others have successfully used remote hubs at academic institutions, but again for IETF onboarding. This setup isn't ideal for active contributors?home or office environments <for remote participation is better suited.

Thanks for sharing your experience. The "remote" experiment ran for a few IETF meetings if I am not mistaken. I found a draft (it's expired) which discussed feedback from Latin American and India. I could not find any information about other parts of the world. It would have been useful to document whether those attendees encountered similar issues.

I agree with your comment that the set up is less than ideal for an active participant. I don't recall seeing any regular participation on the last-call mailing list from the other parts of the world.

I am mentioning the following as there is usually an element of cost for such activities. The notes for 2024 meetings showed a deficit of $928,528 over three meetings. It doesn't seem fiscally prudent (to me) to increase that deficit.
