Do you read the news? At all?

I don't think you cross the US border very often. If you want real
examples of arbitrary harassment, detention, or refusal of entry,
just talk to any of the thousands of Canadians who have to cross
the border every day. Recently, there has been an uptick in people
entering the US for conferences being rejected because they do not
have a work visa. The US is also now strictly enforcing rules around
obtaining prior authorization if you intend to stay more than 30 days.
Not directly meeting related, but this can -- and has -- entrapped
Canadians who winter over in Florida.

A US border official can detain you, refuse entry, and ban reentry for
five years, just because they don't like the way you combed your hair.
I.e., they do not require *any* justification. It has been like this
for decades, but it's only recently that they feel fully empowered to
act out their fascist fantasies. And they are wasting no time getting
down to it.

This is not a theoretical problem.
