Unannounced SONAME break: pystring

[Date Prev][Date Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next][Date Index][Thread Index]

I think this one was more accidental but it looks like in the latest build pystring changed the SONAME from providing <MAJOR>.<MINOR>.<PATCH> to just <MAJOR>:

$ repoquery --repoid=rawhide --whatprovides "libpystring.so.1.1.4()(64bit)"
Last metadata expiration check: 1:30:23 ago on Thu 11 Sep 2025 07:21:01 AM CDT.
pystring-0:1.1.4-5.fc43.x86_64

https://koji.fedoraproject.org/koji/rpminfo?rpmID=44315986

libpystring.so.1()(64bit)

Interestingly it looks like my package OpenColorIO is the only consumer unless I got the command wrong:

$ fedrq whatrequires-src -Xs -F source pystring
OpenColorIO

Hopefully a simple rebuild is sufficient.

Thanks,
Richard
