Lack of maintainer upstream or in Fedora?
If it's the latter, I would suggest orphaning the package instead of
dropping it.
It looks like there are at least a handful of packages that still need it.
He was talking about the upstream maintainer in the GNU org wanting to drop it as it is not something they want to continue working on.
