In the i3 spin, we use lightdm as session manager, and it works very well for all sessions, both X11 and Wayland.

Hope it helps you.

Is there any hope of running the awesome X11 window manager [1,2] on
Fedora 42? I am presently testing Fedora 42 Beta. I have been limping
along with awesome through Fedora 41, and it always worked until now.

I submitted a bug report with some details:

Is there some kind of compatibility package awesome should depend on,
or is running awesome no longer possible with Fedora Workstation?
