I lookerd for the “nouveau 0000:2b:00.0: gsp: mmu fault queued“ in web search and see lots of reports of the same issue. You could look into those reports.
You may need to try using the rpmfusion nvidia drivers for a solution.
Wow, that was a disaster.
I followed the results of the search you mentioned and the consensus was to
install akmod-nvidia.
So I did. After some problems with signatures I was able to actually run
nvidia driver, but it would not recognize the full resolution of my old
ViewSonic monitor. Instead of 1600x1200, I was only getting 1000x700.
There was no way to change the resolution as that was the only one
available. Unacceptable.
So I decided to move back to nouveau and remove the akmod. Somehow it took
away a chunk of my KDE so the reboot resulted in a black screen with a
cursor in the upper left corner. Fortunately I still had an access via ssh
and was able to reinstall everything from my iPad.
So I am back to square one. I guess I will have to live with KDE freezes
or invest into a new monitor and try akmod-nvidia again.
BTW, is there a way how to restart a frozen KDE remotely via ssh?
Thanks
Frank
