I have a rather large monitor. I can't find my mouse at
times. I just installed oneko and the kitty chases the
mouse as you described. It is actually very helpful.
Years ago I used xeyes to locate the pointer. Gnome has an
option to highlight the mouse when you press <Left-Ctl>. Xeyes
can't help in Wayland as it needs to break isolation, which is one
of the security benefits of Wayland.
