You could splat them with the mouse pointer, too. Between that, and something called Zombie Apocalypse on the Amiga (a braindead, but slightly amusing time-wasting game, you can see a demo video on YouTube), I completely wore out my mouse button. Another desktop toy I remember was Meko. It was a kitten that'd chase your mouse pointer around.
