I always thought of it more of a prank than a game, considering that
you ran it on top of the normal desktop.  But I remember it on my Amiga
(there's probably versions of it for every system).  They'd run and
hide under icons and and windows, and do it again if you found them. 
You could splat them with the mouse pointer, too.

Between that, and something called Zombie Apocalypse on the Amiga (a
braindead, but slightly amusing time-wasting game, you can see a demo
video on YouTube), I completely wore out my mouse button.

Another desktop toy I remember was Meko.  It was a kitten that'd chase
your mouse pointer around.  Then sit down and clean itself when the
mouse was idle, and fall asleep.
