Ok.

Guessed primary partition table:

Disk model:
Units: sectors of 1 * 512 = 512 bytes
Sector size (logical/physical): 512 bytes / 512 bytes
I/O size (minimum/optimal): 512 bytes / 512 bytes
Disklabel type: dos
Disk identifier: 0x5c3b37be

Device     Boot Start      End  Sectors  Size Id Type
/dev/sdb1        8064 30283007 30274944 14.4G  c W95 FAT32 (LBA)

I'm getting an idea of what might be going on, which does mostly assume it's a fake drive. Somehow gpart doing its scan triggers the partition table to be available. fdisk can see it because it directly reads the disk, but the OS doesn't know about the partition.

Don't remove the drive if it's still in.

Try "fdisk -l /dev/sdb".
If it doesn't show the partition table, then try "gpart /dev/sdb", then try "fdisk -l /dev/sdb" again. If it shows the partition table, then run "partprobe". If that's not available, then install "parted".
Then try the mount.
