2-2-2-2-2-2-2-2-2-2-2-2-2 From: Heather M Kirkpatrick <heather.kirkpatrick@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Hello everyone, If you are planning to attend AGU and study granites or the continental crust, please consider submitting to the following session: *V017 - Granites and the Continental Crust: Reimaging, Reinvestigating, and Reinterpreting Earthâ??s Veneer <https://agu.confex.com/agu/agu25/prelim.cgi/Session/251566>* *Abstract*: The continental crust is an archive of ~4 billion years of Earthâ??s history, covers 41% of Earthâ??s surface, and represents 70% of the crustal volume on Earth. While we know a great deal about the crust, including its chemical and structural stratification and that it is relatively felsic in nature, we still debate fundamental aspects of its formation, chemistry, and structure. Determination of the internal architecture and chemistry of the continental crust is one of the key missions in the field of Geosciences and is important for understanding the long-term evolution of Earthâ??s surface. This session encourages submission of a diverse range of contributions which highlight methods of assessing crustal structure and magma petrogenesis within the continental crust. These studies will include those which utilize geophysical, geochemical, petrological, and geochronological approaches. We welcome contributions that apply fieldwork, laboratory investigations through experimental simulations and high-resolution analyses, advanced modeling, and statistical tools. *Conveners*: Heather Kirkpatrick (University of Louisiana at Lafayette), Mattia Pistone (University of Georgia), and Laura Waters (New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology) *Invited Speakers*: Mack Taylor (University of Michigan) and Anna Ruefer (Stanford University) Please feel free to email me (heather.kirkpatrick@xxxxxxxxxxxxx), Mattia ( Mattia.Pistone@xxxxxxx) or Laura (laura.waters@xxxxxxx) with any questions. We hope to see you there! 2-2-2-2-2-2-2-2-2-2-2-2-2 ------------------------------
