Hi all,

We are pleased to advertise two funded three-year PhD positions on
Distributed acoustic sensing (DAS)for volcano monitoring at the University
of Canterbury in Christchurch, New Zealand.

The PhD positions are part of a larger programme that aims to develop DAS
as an operational monitoring tool for volcano monitoring with data
processed in near-real time. The projects will involve collaboration with
GeoNet, New Zealandâ??s hazard monitoring agency, and will focus on creating
rapid data processing workflows using advanced machine learning algorithms
and edge computing. These workflows will enable the rapid identification
and localisation of seismic events, providing actionable information to
improve volcanic hazard assessments.
