We are preparing a Special Publication for the Geological Society of London
on geological mapping in volcanic areas, led by the IAVCEI Volcano Geology
Commission.
The goal is to emphasize fieldwork as essential to understanding volcanism,
and reconnecting it with modern technological approaches. The volume will
highlight its value for hazard assessment, resource exploration, land
planning, and education. It will also offer guidance on presenting
geological data in maps useful for risk management and sustainable
development.
We aim to include case studies and mapping examples from diverse volcanic
settings, along with foundational papers.
Please let us know if you have mapping or stratigraphic work to contribute,
so we can assess interest and prepare a proposal.
Editors: Federico Lucchi, Natalia Pardo, Karoly Nemeth, Guido Giordano,
Nobuo Geshi, and Gerardo Carrasco.
*We would like to emphasize that there will be no publication fees for
this*.
Send to the Volcano Geology Commission's e-mail (
volcanogeologycommission@xxxxxxxxx) your manifestation of interest by
August 31.
Best regards.

Natalia, Karoly, Matteo
