Pimentel" <Adriano.HG.Pimentel@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Dear colleagues, We would like to call your attention to the 2nd circular of the International Summer School on Geohazards in Volcanic Islands (28 May - 4 June 2025). The International Summer School on Geohazards in Volcanic Islands is a holistic course that provides an overview of different geological hazards affecting volcanic islands. The Summer School is promoted by the IVAR Academy of the Research Institute for Volcanology and Risk Assessment (IVAR) of the University of the Azores and will bring together a group of internationally recognized experts to present state-of-the-art knowledge on different geological hazards, such as volcanism, volcanic fluids, earthquakes, and landslides. The Summer School will include a range of approaches to the study of geological hazards, from theoretical frameworks to hazard assessment, monitoring techniques, and hands-on practical exercises. The 5th edition of the International Summer School on Geohazards in Volcanic Islands will be held at the campus of Ponta Delgada of the University of the Azores from 28 May to 4 June 2025. In addition to lectures and practical exercises, the Summer School includes an icebreaker and a closing dinner, as well as field trips to the Furnas, Fogo, Sete Cidades, and Picos volcanic areas, benefiting from the extraordinary geological diversity of São Miguel Island and the knowledge of invited lecturers and local experts. For eight days, participants will have the unique opportunity to gain crucial knowledge on understanding and mitigating geological hazards in volcanic island environments, fostering interdisciplinary dialogue and professional growth. There will also be ample opportunities to engage in prolific discussions of ongoing student projects and future collaborations, taking advantage of the close contact between international senior scientists and early-career researchers. Applications must be done by filling out a form ( https://ivar.uac.pt/summer-course/ <https://urldefense.com/v3/__https://ivar.uac.pt/summer-course/__;!!IKRxdwAv5BmarQ!bPpGhFYnGsbvzVDqp48Kcc6p_DkwOE1qjJo2VavrRg6L4fshATURlSJWjlhF5jedszhoSikmwd9yXLumUSYIIGIg2g$>) and submitted along with a short motivation letter and Curriculum Vitae. Applications must be submitted by *30 April 2025*.
