Our phones are automatically backed up to our laptops using syncthing.
(And our laptops are backed up to a file server using rsync over ssh.)

A few seconds after we take a photo or video with our phones we can
access it on our laptops.

I just tried changing gamma on one of my screens.  I could not find
a relevant change in any config files.  Maybe it doesn't save it until
logout?????

Can you use TDE via X over ssh to try to fix your display remotely?
