That is the issue. Whether reading metainfos or the .session file (same content, just one for sessions and one not), the logic that open the file does not respect the "Hilighting=" line for files that don't match the default mime-type or for files that don't match the glob/extension in Settings->Editor->Highlighting->File extensions.
That has been a long-standing bug going back as far as I can remember. Now where is that bug hiding in the code?
