Yes, exactly. Briefly, this could actually be said about the whole TDE and 
most applications. And that's probably not the thing we want. I assume 
that there are more users who have it like me - that I prefer TDE, so I 
prefer TDE applications in the same way before their original upstream 
versions, which both would cause the installation of many unwanted 
dependencies and looked different from the rest of my desktop.

Some applications can be doubted whether they can work at all. For example, 
kldcdimmer requires a smartdimmer binary and I have no idea if any current 
distribution provides this binary. Maybe it allows to use another binary - 
maybe xbacklight, I don't know, I've never tried it. When I needed to set 
the display backlight, it was on a laptop, I use tdepowersave. Perhaps it 
could be interesting to have some overview of which applications are real 
use.

BTW, do you use Slackware Builds from Ray-V as a basis or is it a separate 
effort? This would look a bit impractical for three Slackware users I know 
to use three different ways of building - Ray-V, Simone Giustetti and you.
