im running latest fedora linux asahi remix 42 on 2022 m2 macbook air

i stumbled over this when entering saudi arabia trying to reconnect to my 5ghz hotspot from my phone which usually works just fine but the laptop suddenly could not find it anymore. and then noticed the laptop also does not detect 5ghz band on local wifi routers (which my phone oth can see and connect to no problem)

checking

'iw reg get'

i have
