Can you please try: echo > /etc/modprobe.d/debian-bug1107479.conf blacklist pktcdvd reboot and then test again? Please report back if any functionallity related to the DVD-RAM is missing without that module. My guess is that it's fine and the resolution is to stop building that module for Debian.
