Hi Luis,
Thanks for taking the time to review this. I've updated -08 with most of the suggestions, I did think about your comments for providing an example log, but IPv6 CE Routers are fairly diverse and I didn't feel that this document was an appropriate place
for tackling this problem.
Thanks for the review!

Document: draft-ietf-v6ops-cpe-lan-pd
Title: IPv6 CE Routers LAN Prefix Delegation
Reviewer: Luis Contreras
Review result: Has Nits
I have reviewed this document as part of the Operational Directorate's ongoing
effort to review all IETF documents being processed by the IESG. These comments
were written to improve the operational aspects of the IETF drafts. Document
editors and WG chairs should treat these comments just like any other last-call
comments. All of them can be considered as Minor.
General:
- For requirement LPD-2 it is mentioned that in case of insufficient prefixes
are available the IPv6 CE Router SHOULD log a system management error. Such a
log can help greatly to the operational understanding of what is happening in
that situation where the host or router is not getting the necessary prefixes.
Being benefitial for troubleshooting, I would recommend to elevate it from
SHOULD to MUST or REQUIRED. In addition to that, I think it would be possitive
to provide an example of the kind of log to be registered, so that there could
be a common basis for handling this situations in multivendor / multisystem
scenarios adhering to this document. - LPD-5 refers to delegated prefix
expiration. However considerations for expiration are not described or pointed
out in teh document. For instance, LPD-3 states that a prefix assigned to a
link MUST NOT change in the absence of a local policy or a topology change. I
think it would be benefitial for the reader having a sentence where explaining
the conditions for expiration. - LDP-2 and LDP-8 point out specific sections of
the referred RFCs, while this is not the case in LDP-1. I would suggest to add
the reference to the particular section of RFC8415 referred in LPD-1, as well.
- the following Informational/BCP RFCs are listed as normative reference in the
document: RFC6092, RFC6177, RFC7084, RFC8174. Them should be considered as
informative references, in my understanding.
Editorial:
- Introduction: s/"Note that efforts such as Stub Networking Auto Configuration
(SNAC) Working Group that depends on IPv6 prefixes being properly distributed
in the LAN."/"Note that efforts such as Stub Networking Auto Configuration
(SNAC) Working Group depend on IPv6 prefixes being properly distributed in the
LAN." - LDP-6: s/"IPv6 CE routers MUST continue to drop packets destination
address that is not assigned to the LAN or delegated."/"IPv6 CE routers MUST
continue to drop packets including a destination address that is not assigned
or delegated to the LAN." - LDP-7: s/"...unless configured to use a different
prefix-length or the CE Router administrator."/"...unless configured to use a
different prefix-length by the CE Router administrator." - LDP-7: s/"... a
prefix-length shorter then 64 may be configured."/"... a prefix-length shorter
than 64 may be configured."
Best regards,
Luis
