I've been sending these weekly message summaries to the IETF list for about five years, starting shortly after Thomas Narten stopped his similar summaries. It is my impression from comments I've received that a lot of people find them useful.


I, for one, find these useful.

They have a consistent subject line, and References: headers that make them into one mail thread so if you have a reasonably modern mail program and don't want to see them, you can make them disappear with a couple of keystrokes.


Indeed. In addition, I happen to apply a "Reference" label to these, so that they end up in a mailbox along with other (to me) interesting and useful reference material.



I see one person complaining about them yesterday even though literally nothing has changed in several years. Being aware of the irony that this at least the eighth message in response to the complaint that one message a week was too much, this is the last I plan to say on the topic.
