I don't believe the IETF, and certainly not IETF LLC, should be concerned with political opinions of participants. In the end it's a brutally practical question - will physical attendance at IETF 127 be sufficient to balance the books, or at least be financially preferable to paying the cancellation penalty?

If it is not safe for some of our members to visit a country, we should most definitely be concerned about that. The LLC also does have to consider the financial impact, but they should also know how the community feels.  I do not envy them.

 

There was talk of giving money to help offset the cost. Perhaps someone sets up an online thing (gofundme/kickstarter/whatever) that only takes effect if the LLC decides to pull out.
