I don’t think anyone is advocating support of a boycott. I think though that it is prudent to realize that a significant number of people may not feel safe travelling to the U.S. with the current situation, irrespective of if they can get visas or not.

The potential travel bans and the arrest and deportation of people with valid visas creates real concerns and I believe the LLC needs to be cognisant of these concerns.

If a situation exists where a meeting is deemed effectively safe only for the members of the host country - this is not conducive for creating standards that have global applicability

Visa issues are a valid concern. Trying to accommodate everyone's politically motivated "boycotts" should NOT be. That's tantamount to the IETF taking a position in support of your boycott and is way out of line.
