Just wondering, > whether it should be at least tried to ask upstream to support system-wide > jemalloc linked dynamically somehow. They do provide a mechanism to do that, by setting the environment variable JEMALLOC_OVERRIDE to the path to a static or shared library. However, this isn’t quite suitable for our needs, because (1) we would have to make sure every package that directly or indirectly depended on this one defined that environment variable, which is impractical and error-prone, and (2) we don’t want the RPM-packaged version of this to include or support building with a bundled jemalloc *at all*. We therefore are stuck with a downstream patch to make sure the system jemalloc is used *unconditionally*. Pretty much every Rust -sys package in Fedora carries a similar patch in one form or another. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are always notified about changes to this product and component You are on the CC list for the bug. https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=2366367 Report this comment as SPAM: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/enter_bug.cgi?product=Bugzilla&format=report-spam&short_desc=Report%20of%20Bug%202366367%23c7 -- _______________________________________________ package-review mailing list -- package-review@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx To unsubscribe send an email to package-review-leave@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Fedora Code of Conduct: https://docs.fedoraproject.org/en-US/project/code-of-conduct/ List Guidelines: https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Mailing_list_guidelines List Archives: https://lists.fedoraproject.org/archives/list/package-review@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Do not reply to spam, report it: https://pagure.io/fedora-infrastructure/new_issue
