-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Fedora Update Notification FEDORA-2025-9f412e03b1 2025-07-30 01:21:50.253451+00:00 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Name : openmw Product : Fedora 42 Version : 0.49.0 Release : 2.fc42 URL : https://openmw.org/ Summary : OpenMW is an open-source game engine Description : OpenMW is an open-source game engine focused on 3D role-playing games -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Update Information: New package. OpenMW, an open-source game engine focusing on role-playing games. It can be used to make new games or play existing games. To test full functionality, I recommend testing with Morrowind's data. See here for instructions and where you can acquire MW. https://openmw.readthedocs.io/en/latest/manuals/installation/install-game- files.html OpenMW does NOT rely on these proprietary assets to function; it is simply the most complete set of data files for testing stability and bugs with due to it being a full game. That said, the engine can also be tested with entirely free assets, though at the moment it is somewhat more complicated. Here are the instructions on using the example suite to test instead: https://openmw.readthedocs.io/en/latest/reference/modding/openmw-game- template.html If you want something in between the barebones game template and the full Morrowind game to test with, there is a proof of concept first person shooter that is free. An appimage is provided, though, so to test it you'll have to extract the content and use the instructions from the example suite to then point to the Robowind data. I don't really recommend this method for testing, as Robowind may not be functional on the latest OpenMW build yet, but I'm not sure. https://modding-openmw.com/mods/rwc-robowind/ With the game template you can test the engine without any non-free data. You can also use the construction set provided by openmw-cs without any data at all. Make sure openmw-cs is run with QT_QPA_PLATFORM=xcb. Everything else supports wayland, but there's some bugs in the construction set at the moment due to QtOSG.
