Hi all!
The package called "malaga" is in a bit of a difficult situation. It failed to build from source (https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=2385169), but I just managed to fix the build. However, I'm still considering orphaning or even retiring it.
A short description of the package: A software package for the development and application of grammars that are used for the analysis of words and sentences of natural languages.
Unfortunately, the upstream home page is missing (https://home.arcor.de/bjoern-beutel/malaga/). Prof. Dr.-Ing. Michael Piotrowski seems to host the last source tarball on his website at https://dynalabs.de/mxp/malaga but I would not call that a new upstream, because there is no maintenance. I guess you might be able to send him patches, but there does not seem to be a release process or a source control system in use.
Debian has removed malaga, see https://tracker.debian.org/pkg/malaga
I originally packaged malaga for Fedora, because at the time (2007) it was a requirement for the Finnish spell checker Voikko. That is no longer the case. Frankly, I do not need or use malaga any more.
If you are a Fedora packager (or even a user) and you use malaga, please let me know. I will probably keep the package in Fedora for F43, but I am unsure about the future. If I find co-maintainers, it will be easier to keep this package alive.
I solved the incompatible pointer issues, which caused the package to FTBFS. The build still warns about deprecations. I am feeling like I do not have the persistence at this moment to maintain a package like malaga, which does not have a proper upstream or even a mailing list/forum to discuss with people familiar with the code.
Best regards,
Ville-Pekka Vainio
