The most interesting thing is that at this point
the only approach is "it's complicated".  That
is both exciting, and somewhat depressing.

I am sure we will all understand the right
approach we should have used in 20 years.
Unfortunately, the time machine is broken,
and according to the actuary tables, I may
not live to see it (which further depresses
me, as I really want to know how this all
works out).
