Does 32-bit still really > matter? Has GCC thought about this? Yes, GCC does care about both 32-bit and 64-bit hosts and 8-bit, 16-bit, 20-bit, 24-bit, 32-bit and 64-bit targets. Sure, 64-bit hosts are these days more important, but still GCC is used in many kinds of different environment. Portability is a very important goal of the project.
