This command does not replace `dnf system-upgrade`, but it will reveal
potential problems.
I tested it when you wrote mail, removed some old packages from system
and it worked so I had nothing to report.
Today wanted to go for F42 beta and got:
Problem 1: package mesa-vdpau-drivers-freeworld-25.0.0-4.fc42.x86_64 from rpmfusion-free requires mesa-filesystem(x86-64) = 25.0.0, but none of the providers can be installed
- cannot install the best update candidate for package mesa-vdpau-drivers-freeworld-25.0.0-4.fc41.x86_64
- mesa-filesystem-25.0.0-2.fc41.x86_64 does not belong to a distupgrade repository
Problem 2: package mesa-vdpau-drivers-freeworld-25.0.0-4.fc42.x86_64 from rpmfusion-free requires mesa-filesystem(x86-64) = 25.0.0, but none of the providers can be installed
- cannot install both mesa-filesystem-25.0.1-3.fc42.x86_64 from updates-testing and mesa-filesystem-25.0.0-2.fc41.x86_64 from @System
- problem with installed package
- cannot install the best update candidate for package mesa-filesystem-25.0.0-2.fc41.x86_64
- mesa-vdpau-drivers-freeworld-25.0.0-4.fc41.x86_64 does not belong to a distupgrade repository
Those two can probably be overriden with some 'dnf swap', upgrade,
'dnf swap' again. No problem for me.
But then we have this:
Problem 3: installed package steam-1.0.0.82-2.fc42.i686 requires steam-devices = 1.0.0.82-2.fc42, but none of the providers can be installed
- cannot install both steam-devices-1.0.0.100^git20240522.0.e2971e4-1.fc42.noarch from updates-testing and steam-devices-1.0.0.82-2.fc42.i686 from @System
- cannot install both steam-devices-1.0.0.100^git20240522.0.e2971e4-1.fc42.noarch from updates-testing and steam-devices-1.0.0.82-2.fc42.i686 from rpmfusion-nonfree
- cannot install the best update candidate for package steam-devices-1.0.0.82-2.fc42.i686
- cannot install the best update candidate for package steam-1.0.0.82-2.fc42.i686
Shawn: I am aware that not everyone is using Steam app from RPMFusion
but it is still quite popular package...
Can you work with Simone and sort that upgrade problem in some nice way?
