Subject: Re: [EXTENSION] Request to add new extension to Crash Extension Modules page: sdinfo Dear Martin, Thank you very much for your thoughtful suggestions regarding the PyKdump extension and its 'scsishow' and 'nvme' commands. I truly appreciate you taking the time to share these references, which demonstrate your deep expertise in this domain. Indeed, during our development process, we have found PyKdump to be a valuable resource, specifically its field selection strategy, data layout logic, and visual presentation approach for SCSI/NVMe information. The documentation and examples also have been quite helpful in our work. However, in certain specialized environments - particularly in completely isolated internal networks without internet access - we've found that PyKdump can present challenges for compilation and deployment. This is where we believe our sdinfo extension offers a distinct advantage, as it can be packaged directly within the crash-utility RPM, making distribution and deployment significantly simpler in these restricted environments. We remain very interested in having sdinfo listed on the Extension Modules page as it provides a complementary solution that addresses specific deployment scenarios that other tools might find challenging. The extension is designed with maintenance and compatibility in mind, and we're committed to keeping it updated alongside crash-utility developments. Thank you again for your valuable input and expertise. We're open to further discussion about how sdinfo might complement the existing ecosystem of crash extensions.
