There is a supported betterbird install script at:
https://github.com/Betterbird/thunderbird-patches/blob/main/install-on-linux/install-betterbird.sh
It's been updated to use the proper uncompress command and the location
of the checksum file.
It also backs up the current BB install before installing the new version.
