Different postfix connection results from desktop and laptop on same network using telnet

Hi,

I noticed that my postfix has an issue with my laptop since the middle of this week. Specifically, the connection to the mailserver times out. However, this connection goes through and gets delivered from my workstation. Both of them are fully updated with Fedora 42 (workstation/desktop and a laptop). The main difference between them is that the laptop is connected to the network by means of WiFi and the other is connected by means of ethernet (on to the same university network).

I was trying to see what the problem was and I tried:

telnet mailserver portnumber

on both machines.

In the case of the laptop, I get:

 Trying IP address...

(hangs)

while in the case of the desktop, I get:

 Trying (same) IP address...
 Connected to mailserver
 Escape character is '^]'.
 220 out-?.mail.domainname ESMTP Postfix (Ubuntu)

What could the problem be?

Many thanks and best wishes,
Ranjan
