evince crashes X server

Fedora 42 updated regularly, recently 5 days ago.

$ uname -a
Linux e7.eyal.emu.id.au 6.15.3-200.fc42.x86_64 #1 SMP PREEMPT_DYNAMIC Thu Jun 19 15:00:25 UTC 2025 x86_64 GNU/Linux

$ evince --version
GNOME Document Viewer 48.0

Opening any pdf file, clicking on the size drop-down (the one at the top right, e.g. 75%) exits the desktop
and I need to log in again.

This happened to me today for the first time.

I ran 'evince' to view a pdf file, started OK, then clicked the drop down and was logged out. Not just evince exiting.
As if X was killed (I still run Xorg). No oops in the system log. See log below for X crash.

The same evince version on another f42 machine (a VM) works OK.

=========== some logs =====

Looking at 'messages' I see at that second:
	Jun 30 00:04:00 e7 at-spi2-registryd[2132053]: X connection to :0 broken (explicit kill or server shutdown).
	Jun 30 00:04:00 e7 org.a11y.Bus[2129856]: X connection to :0 broken (explicit kill or server shutdown).
Followed by many messages of things shutting down and a new login starting. I can post if it helps.

Looking at Xorg.0.log.old I see at the end:
