My mother's house was built in 1960. About 60 years later there were problems
with phone and internet. Tech guy examined the big cable full of copper wires at
the pole. Birds had pecked holes in the sheath of the big cable and damaged the
outside wires. but he found a pair that were still working.
Thieves have been stealing sections of phone lines in rural areas for the copper.
