The results are correct.  But notice that the case sensitive search took over 7 1/4 MINUTES; the case INsensitive search took less than 1/20 second.  That's a nearly 4 orders of magnitude difference!  I would think that the case INsensitive search would involve more processing, and so should take longer.  What's going on?

You've mixed up your option case. -i is insensitive. But both have that. The difference is the -I which means "Grope" is searching all the binary files as well.
