From: Don Zickus on gitlab.com https://gitlab.com/cki-project/kernel-ark/-/merge_requests/3880#note_2531171542 The cargo argument is fair. We definitely shouldn't be blindly pulling from upstream. I can talk with Scott about alternative approaches. As for Rust itself, we fully expect requests to be made to include a Rust kernel driver during RHEL-10. The goal of this MR is to turn it on and start flushing out all the pieces needed to prepare for that request as it isn't as simple as turn it on and done. KABI has to be rewritten from scratch, kdump doesn't support Rust and other nuisances that need to be identified and resolved. We do have it enabled in Fedora to turn on the handful of Rust drivers in the kernel today, so it is starting to matter. -- _______________________________________________ kernel mailing list -- kernel@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx To unsubscribe send an email to kernel-leave@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Fedora Code of Conduct: https://docs.fedoraproject.org/en-US/project/code-of-conduct/ List Guidelines: https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Mailing_list_guidelines List Archives: https://lists.fedoraproject.org/archives/list/kernel@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Do not reply to spam, report it: https://pagure.io/fedora-infrastructure/new_issue
