I see that on the wiki page it says WiFi is unsupported on the Pi 400.
Are there plans to support it in the future?  If so is there an
approximate time frame?

Unfortunately it's down to the hardware vendor of the WiFi module as to whether it's supported and Synopsys has stated they have no intention to support their wireless modules in the upstream Linux kernel. In fact the senior manager of wireless at Synopsys that I spoke to at a trade event stated to me they don't even have customers that use Linux, I did point out his information was incorrect but it made no difference.

So long story short it's out of our control and quite unlikely.
