No, serial console is a USB TTL connected to the serial port, it's
also known as the Debug UART.

Yes, GPIOs work generally, I suspect you mean GPIOs on the 40 pin
header, that's not fully supported as yet, only the basics of this
gpio controller is tested and I've not yet looked at that at all as
yet, certainly there is a lot missing (as stated in the overview).
